This Loom Gabbeh Lori rug was crafted by hand with a new knotting technique in the small town of Bhadohi in India. Beautiful and modern rugs in Gabbeh design and with a clearly outlined layout are crafted here. High-quality sheep wool is used for this kind of rug. The pile is soft, comfortable and robust. Definitely a very nice piece of handicraft for anyone who values an affordable hand-knotted carpet with its own character.

Indian Rug

Carpet weavers from the former Persia came to India centuries ago to practise their craft there. As a result, India now has a long-standing tradition of carpet weaving. The patterns and ornaments are often inspired by the well-known designs of Persian rugs. Many hand-knotted oriental rugs come from the north of the country. Kashmir silk rugs, for example, come from the Kashmir region, which borders Pakistan directly.

Vegetable Silk

As the name suggests, bamboo silk is a natural fibre made from bamboo plants. In terms of softness and sheen, it is similar to pure silk, but it is considerably more affordable. Thanks to its natural properties, bamboo silk is durable and breathable.

Loom knotted

Loom rugs are made on looms, on which a pile is made from loops. Instead of knots (see hand-knotted rugs), loops are woven, which later form the carpet pile. Compared to traditional hand knotting, loom carpets can be made with much less effort and are therefore more affordable. Because of their weave, these rugs are also limited to geometric or plain patterns.

Care & Fair

Following our ethical principles, we at Nain Trading are declared supporters of the organization CARE & FAIR. The goal is joint action by carpet dealers worldwide to give children from carpet weaver families in India and Pakistan the foundation for socially protected growing up. This improves the situation for the whole family in the long term. A child-friendly childhood for a life worth living - that is the mission.
